L’Occitane en Provence Navigates the 5th Day of Racing with a Southern Strategy
On the fifth day of the Transat Jacques Vabre (TJV), Clarisse Cremer and co-skipper Alan on L’Occitane en Provence have made a pivotal decision to chart a southern course. The move comes as a departure from the northern route trusted by the routage softwares, which involves navigating the Azores to starboard and engaging with challenging wind shifts and low-pressure systems.
Alan explains, "The big decision was North or South, and as you can see from the tracker, we’re heading South. It’s more of a classical route in some ways, for the TJV. The reason why it’s an option this time is because we don’t have a mark in the Southern part of the racecourse, near the equator – it was taken out to make it shorter."
The fleet are making the sensible decision with us," Alan adds, highlighting a collective prioritization of safety among the competitors.
As L’Occitane en Provence sails on, the team is optimistic about successfully navigating the challenges ahead and making progress toward the finish line in the Transat Jacques Vabre in Martinique.
