L'Occitane en Provence ready for the Transat Jacques Vabre after battling storm Ciaran
Le Havre, France - Last Sunday, due to the arrival of storm Ciaran over western France, the race directors of the Transat Jacques Vabre decided to postpone the start of the prestigious transatlantic race. This decision was taken in the interests of the safety of the sailors and their boats.
For the past five days, the IMOCA fleet has been parked in the port of Le Havre, awaiting a new start date. After weathering the storm Ciaran on Wednesday night, which continued into Thursday, the results for the IMOCA boats berthed at the Transat Jacques Vabre Normandie Le Havre were positive. No damage was recorded on the IMOCA L'Occitane en Provence, whose team was on watch day and night to ensure the boat's safety.
But while the storm is behind us, all eyes remain on the weather, which is not yet mild enough to allow a safe departure in the next few days. At this stage, the race directors, finally seeing a favorable weather window, announced yesterday a possible start this Tuesday morning, November 8. The aim remains to guarantee optimal starting conditions for all competitors, and to ensure the safety of the skippers and sailors in the race.
Stay tuned for regular updates.
